i didn't post for a while. and i'll tell you why... i typed up a nice post about inspirational music (yes there was a gackt song, but it's not what you think) and then this dumb blogger thing didn't post any of the videos! well i hit preview and they didn't come up so i saved it for later.
for tonight i was working on a pony for a friend who just had a baby. now sadly i'm not really showing the pics off atm, but soon and all i have left is sealing, styling, and the addition of ribbon roses i've already made!
so you want a picture anyway?
i was introduced tot he super cute korean keayboard stickers at cuteinkorea

i have 3 drawers stuffed full of hair...
pikachu was made by Asahi-Chan
my wacom is my desk's pride and joy
but my mouse pad has a pic of my daughters on it. <3 walmart for that one.
gotta love ebay and cheap chinese goods for the mouse, very cheap and very pretty.

maybe you thought about it....
i bet you're wondering if i really do a little art each day. you're thinking, "she must finish projects quickly! she's arting everyday! what an amazing person. maybe her house is falling down around her tho, maybe she ignores her children just to paint ponies and lecture us on vector art! oh noes, ruby's a mean messy person!"
actually... i ignore my art for my kids. if they're home and awake while i'm working on a project it's because they're ignoring me! "who wants to play uno?!" ...."(My Little Pony) I used to wonder what friendship could be (My Little Pony) Until you all shared its magic with me..." "oh.... i guess it's tv time. you did your homework, and your chores... i'll leave you be now." *walks away sad mom*
but on top of all that... i do art as a side job. my main employment is my family. i do laundry, shopping, meal planning, etc. so when i do get time for art... what do i do? usually i start another project. so i actually have 27ish projects started right now. and that might just be the ponies....
what did i do today? something fun, exciting, interesting, and possibly going to check 7 things off my list by friday!
these are tiny ponies. and i mean about half the size of a mlpfim blindbag. as you can see i have the mane 6 (yes i spelled "main" wrong on purpose in favor of the pony pun of "mane") and a little extra gifty pony. the gift is actually done so as soon as i have a box to mail her in she already has a new home.
these tiny ponies are sculpted from lumina clay, it's a semi-translucent air drying (time drying?) polymer clay. it can be dyed with acrylic paint before sculpting (so like while conditioning it) and because of that... pinkie pie started out as purple. they're all also a little gummi and flexible. altho still breakable. these were made over the course of 3 sculpting sessions, the last one being about 3 1/2 hours and very intense. i hope that when i unveil all 7 you will be pleased. if i work on painting them tomorrow and friday i might get final pics before the kids get off the bus, which means i can list the 6 on ebay! yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway... i like the lumina clay, but... it's not detaily like apoxie and super sculpey. and what it doesn't pick up in details it picks up in sorta looking clumpy like play doh. i hope to have all that fixed by picture time tho. wish me luck
for now ruby say good night!

sometimes i vector, in english
it's true, sometimes i think, speak, type, and vector in english. it's rare i know. and i apologize but i'm a poor student and so my japanese, and korean, are both, most likely, very wrong. moshiwakearimasen. yes, that was prolly wrong. and i often type how i speak, so shitsureshimasu. anywhoodles... recently i vectored. i'm not sure if any of my friends understand my love of vector. it's like a perfect art. if there ever were such a thing. if you want to learn all the technical stuff you're in the wrong place. all i can tell you is to google it if you don't know the truth that is vector. it is not, however, just flash and/or animation. it can be photo realistic, and very cartoonish. it can mock humanity or be at one with it. it can be modern or classic. but what it always is, it is infinite. it can be infinitely resized without loss of perfection. so here i give a few examples
this is the resized and trimmed gackt that i have for sale as a print on my DA page.
this is the original size. because i vectored this with layer shapes via the pen tool in photoshop i was able to make it very large, and print worthy, with not quality loss. other than that at 20in X 30in you can probably see all my mistakes. but i'm not sure anyone but me will buy a print of it anyway. so :P it is however water marked. cause i worked my butt off doing this and i'm not giving it away.
here is an up close and personal vector of a toy frog. you can see the clean lines and exact placement. it's being vectored in photoshop tho, whose main purpose is raster so there may be some pixelization as this is a Work-in-Progress snap shot.
this ism sadly, as far as i've gotten with this vector. having my kids home everyday doesn't leave the the dedication to finish this as well as i'd like. at this point i prolly have 13-14 hours invested in a simple sign.
i forget how long this took, or even if it was in adobe illustrator or photoshop, but prolly AI as the original files are lost. AI has a habit of crapping out on me and corrupting my files.
i think this was ai as well. the raster looking sun in the background was made with a tool thingy in ai. i don't recall which as i made this 3 or 4 years ago.
anyway you can see the versatility of my beloved vector. altho i don't make anything photo-realistic i know it's around...
johnny depp vector at DA
parrots on DA
then there's the off the wall stuff...
industrial owl on DA
bumble bee on DA
anyway, i hope i have inspired some love for vector, maybe a little for Gackt-sama, but mostly i hope you see art, all art, in a new way. jyanne!
